Self Initiated

I’m a fan of working in the open, so some of these projects have a few loose ends to tie up or might just be a slop first pass to get into the mechanics of the project and see how it works first before over thinking the design detail.

Website Screenshots to Figma & Local

Frustrated by Figma’s restrictions on long image sizes, I made an extension that grabs the page, splits the images up, connect to a Figma file of your choice, sends via a Cloudflare worker and arrives in your canvas.

DIY your own version by using my AGENTS.md here: https://github.com/lawrencebrown/save-to-local-and-figma

Dad’s iPod

Surf through my dad’s iPod. In 2008 dad died, I stashed the music off his iPod and it sat on my hard drive until I had the idea to recreate the iPod here. pauljulianbrown.com

E Ink Generative Art App

I’ve made an abstract art generator that sends images to my e-ink display next to my desk. It was time to come up for creative AI air after lengthy hours in product AI. Read more about the e ink generative art app here

Talk: AI, Design & Product

In May 2026 I spoke at UBS, posing the hot take that: Teams should vibecode* full stack product simulators. Not just quick prototypes. Right now, I see a lot of attention on design detail and AI, which is relevant, but I prefer the deeper and messier view of getting real data and logic into a system to truly experience it as a user would.

Sideload: Roon Offline iOS App

Still a work in progress, I’m making an app to sync my local music collection via a Roon playlist on my LAN. Read more about this iOS project here.

Roon Volume

A very tiny macOS menubar app that uses a Node.js daemon to turn Roon volume up and down, solving the no native volume controls puzzle of Roon. Read more about this project and the Roon software I’ve been making here.

Was it this hot/cold/wet/dry last year? or in recent years?

This is very much still in slop mode, I have some design sketches for a interface I’d like to use and look at, just not prioritising this right now. View the weather project here.

Lottery Number Generator

This is peak slop. Theres something quite entertaining about thinking you can game the system using AI and datasets. I asked the agent to make this _feel_ like The Economist had designed it. It needs some design love one day, but also, is probably just fine as it is. It was fun working with the data and views though. Get rich now with the AI lottery number picker

Typography on Screen

Back in 2005 I bought this domain to blog about web type. Jack and I had just messed around with Scalable Inman Flash Replacement (sIFR). We wanted to make a catalogue of web type ideas for a uni project. The domain sat unused after the project for 19 years. I’ve bought it back to life with a new idea – stills from films I watch where type grabs my attention. typographyonscreen.com

Techno/House Mixes

View All DJ Mixes. It’s been a while since I’ve recorded a mix. My eyes are on purchasing the Pioneer XDJ-RR so I can jump on and mess about rather than painstakingly planning mixes.

Spark File: Spring Edition ’26

A working note file for ideas and work in progress on some of those ideas. Not everything has to be made, but some stuff is just craving to be made. Read the full list here from Spring 2026
